PUBLIC LEADERSHIP

Actively involving youth in community-based media projects to fosters leadership that challenges narratives and elevates marginalized voices in public policy and community spaces. Counter narratives are crucial for youth leadership because they allow young people to challenge the stories that often silence or misrepresent their communities. By sharing their own experiences and perspectives, youth can reshape the narrative, bringing attention to important issues like inequality, injustice, and resilience. Counter narratives help youth leaders disrupt stereotypes, create new opportunities for understanding, and advocate for a more inclusive, equitable future. Through these stories, youth can drive meaningful change in their communities.

CULTURAL ORGANIZING

Our workshops, events, and campaigns develop creative and artistic skills such as podcasting, video making, photography, music production, and graphic design, so young changemakers can effectively communicate their perspectives and advocate for social and political change.

LEGAL ACCESS & MUTUAL AID

These networks are designed to address the unique barriers young people face, including limited access to legal services or resources for activism. By exchanging ideas, creative tools, and knowledge, youth work together to build resilience and amplify their collective power.

ENTREPRENEUR AND EDUCATION

Provide youth with the trade and skill resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities necessary to develop and scale content creation and curation.

• Mentorship from Community Advocates: Working with film makers, media designers, local activists, policy leaders, and media experts who can guide youth in becoming effective spokespersons and community leaders in media spaces.

• Creative Skill-Building for Media Careers: Youth are trained in the technical aspects of creative media, including writing, photography, filmmaking, and social media advocacy. These skills are directly applicable to careers in journalism, communications, or social entrepreneurship.

• Career Pathways in Journalism and Advocacy: Youth are guided toward educational and professional pathways in journalism, public relations, advocacy, and media production. They gain certifications and credentials that make them competitive candidates in media and social justice fields.

• Cultural Storytelling Workshops: Offer workshops that teach youth how to use narrative writing and visual media to share their own cultural experiences and challenges. These sessions help them critically reflect on how their stories intersect with larger societal issues.

• Exhibit and Showcase Cultural Narratives: Organize public art exhibits, film screenings, or literary readings where youth can present their creative work to the community, amplifying their voices and messages.

• Free Speech Legal Clinic: For youth seeking to navigate the complex legal landscape surrounding free speech, copyright, and privacy laws. The clinic's programs support by providing legal guidance and resources to help protect and exercise their rights effectively, understanding the boundaries of expression, such as what constitutes hate speech or incitement, how to advocate for one's rights in various forums, and how to safeguard intellectual property, and protect personal information.

• Resource Sharing and Community Support: Set up a youth-driven mutual aid network that provides creative supplies (like art materials, cameras, and computers for digital storytelling), meeting spaces for organizing, and emotional support for those facing legal challenges or systemic barriers.
