FROM THE RIO 2 THE MOUNTAIN
A YOUTH-LED CULTURAL JOURNALISM PROJECT CAPTURING THE BEAUTY OF SOUTH PHOENIX THROUGH OUR EYES
One of the biggest goals of Re:Frame is to create a youth-led media center in South Phoenix. A space were youth are centered as knowledge producers in their own community. With only fours months in Spring 2019 to ground us, and a small amount of money (from community members that support our vision. Thank you!) we were able to create a project team of 15 young people to begin scratching the surface of beautiful stories from a place many of us call home, all while ensuring young people were paid for their collaborative work!
This is not the end. We hope to continue gathering past histories and present stories of south phoenix youth and their fellow community members. As you journey through these points of importance to us in the map below, think of the following questions we asked others. If you have stories, histories, and memories to share, we'd love to hear from you.
What do you think of when you think of South Phoenix?
When did your own history begin with South Phoenix?
What have you seen change throughout your time in South Phoenix? How have the lives of South Phoenix residence changed over the years?
What is the Soul of South Phoenix?
If you had all the resources in the world, What would you do to make the soul of south phoenix shine out?
