A word to funders

Funders hit us up to support financially. We get into these meetings, answer their questions about our programming and values. Then they tell us we are "too small" or "worried about sustainability because we are run by majority young people". They extract ways of being and doing from us, just to go fund larger organization who have harmful adultist practices. You don't have to fund us, but you do need to support spaces that pay young people equitably, and give them decision making powers on things that directly affect their lives. If you are worried about our budget size or youth-led practices, please do not contact us. It is harmful to the hopes and self-worth of the young people on the call.

TOP FUNDERS & MAJOR DONORS DO NOT EXIST HERE

We do not subscribe to a “top/major funder list" that only looks as financial currency. All donors are important and treated equally, whether they donate their socially constructed dollar bills, or time to Re:Frame.
Learn More about Community Centric Fundraising

Our INSTITUTIONAL funders are divided into two catagories

MEANINGFUL PARTNERS = These funders prioritize our needs, not theirs. They trust us fully. They ensure our time is spent supporting our people, not filling out long reporting data. They believe in qualitative data and oral storytelling. They ask permission to use our story and photos, and pay us extra. They don't assume just because they gave us dollars, that we own them something. Paternalism does not exist.

TRANSACTIONAL CONTRIBUTOR = Re:Frame agrees to reallocate a funder's money back to the people. These funders have reached out to us saying they are working towards equitable practices in philanthropy, but they are still harmful and need to be approached with caution. Not dismissed completely. Just held with deep love, joy, gratitude, and also caution.

Through love, curiosity, and abundance, we are happy to reflect with anyone (funder, org, or individual) on our origin story with any of these funders. In this  practice, we hope to practice truth telling, reduce harm, and build more mutually respectful relationships.
